In Dauphin County, carrying a concealed firearm or having one in your vehicle without a valid License to Carry Firearms (LTCF) is a serious offense under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6106. Even if the gun is legally owned, carrying it without the proper license can land you in prison. 
What Does the Law Say?
Under §6106, it’s illegal to:
- Carry a firearm concealed on your person
- Have a firearm in your car without an LTCF
There are narrow exceptions—such as going directly to a shooting range or transporting an unloaded gun between your home and a repair shop—but most people don’t qualify.
Penalties for a Violation:
- Felony of the third degree
- Up to 7 years in prison
- Fines up to $15,000
