Judy Cohen is quite frankly the keystone of the Firm. She is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She has been a Legal Assistant to a variety of lawyers for nearly twenty years. In 1985 while working for the U.S. Department of Justice she was personally assigned to the U.S. Attorney and one Assistant U.S. Attorney. Subsequently, she worked for the Department of the Navy, Office of Counsel, and assisted a team of seven attorneys. Before joining The McShane Firm, LLC she held a position with Attorney James M. Bach who specializes in Bankruptcy Law. She is a member of the National Notary Association and the Association for Legal Administrators. She was honored by being included in the 2007-2008 Cambridge University Whose Who in Professional Women.
Kathleen Neil is the friendly and helpful voice that you hear when you call the office. Kathy is a native of Michigan. She attended Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan. She has three sons and one daughter. She worked in Emergency Medical Services for 22 years. Previously, she was employed as a Receptionist for Honda Cars in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Upon relocating in Pennsylvania in 1999, and before joining The McShane Firm, she worked as a Receptionist for Faulkner Car Group of Harrisburg, and continues to work as the night receptionist for the Market Square Presbyterian Church.
Born and raised in York County, Diane graduated from York Suburban High School and has several credit hours in Psychology at York College of PA. She brings 20+ years of customer service experience to the firm. She retired from AT&T in 2002 and has worked as a 911 dispatcher and the Front Office Specialist for Planned Parenthood of Central Pennsylvania. A mother of 3 and grandmother of 2, Diane and her husband, David, live in Dover, PA.
Glenda Rice is a graduate of Penn State-Main Campus. She has over ten (10) years experience in the accounting/bookkeeping field. She specializes in handling the firm’s time payment issues after they are initially established.
Ms. Brehm is the firm’s full time Litigation Support Specialist. She is the unsung hero at the firm as she is the one who ensures that in each case all of the relevant discovery information (e.g., police reports, BAC results, witness statements) are in the hands of the attorneys and have been scrutinized, looking for all errors. She also directly coordinates the preparation of cases for trial and performs necessary factual and legal research in order to insure that the best result can occur. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg Campus, Middletown, PA where she earned her Bachelor of Science in December 2005. Her major was Information Science & Technology with a strong minor in Business. She also a native of Central Dauphin High School having graduated in 2002 with an Honors designation. She has attained twelve (12) hours of training in Breath Alcohol Test Operation which is three (3) times more than most police officers.
Cathi Leigh is legal assistant and “right hand” to Attorney Barrouk. Cathi Leigh was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After serving our country honorably for twenty years, Cathi Leigh retired from the United States Air Force. She pursued a paralegal degree. She has an impressive fifteen (15) year career working in family law, personal injury, medical malpractice, and civil and criminal litigation. Cathi Leigh lives with her family of two cats and a turtle in Harrisburg.
Ms. Smith is a third-year at the Pennsylvania State University-Dickinson School of Law. She lists her honors and school-related activities while in law school as follows: Baseball Salary Arbitration Program, Selected to submit an offer and brief on behalf of the Los Angeles Dodgers for a 2008 salary arbitration; University of Cape Town Study Abroad, Fall 2008 proposal was selected. Her activities include being active in the Environmental Law Society and she acts as a Tutor in Property Law. Educationally, she received, concurrently with her instant matriculation, a Certificate in the Study of Arbitration Law from McGill University Law Faculty in Montreal, QC (June 2007). She is a graduate of The University of Texas (Austin, TX) with a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Economics and Mathematics (May 2006). While there she listed her activities as Phi Chi Theta, Social Director, Historian, Membership Officer. She also attended Texas Tech University – Distance Learning program to receive a Certificate in Texas Real Estate License Curriculum (June 2006). She has experience already in the legal field working in such firms as King, LeBlanc & Bland, P.L.L.C. (Houston, TX), Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, L.L.P. (Austin, TX) and the Office of the Attorney General (Austin, TX). She currently acts as in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, while studying at the Dickinson School of Law and is certified to file Federal Income Tax Returns. She is active in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Carlisle Area and mentors an Elementary School child on a weekly. She is also quite an accomplished competitive long distance runner (including the 2007 Catalina Island Marathon, and two half- marathons in 2006 and 2007); she is competitive on the international level
Ms. Prutzman is one of our part-time law clerks for 2008. She is a second year law student at Widener University School of Law. She is a Dean’s List recipient. She completed her undergraduate work at Gettysburg College where she was a 4 year letterwoman in Basketball and Volleyball. In terms of the beginning of her legal career, she was first exposed to criminal law when she spent the summer of 2005 with the Adams County Public Defender’s Office. This past summer she spent time interning with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. She has a desire to become a criminal law litigator.
His friends call him “CJ”. CJ is one of our part-time law clerks for 2008. He is a third year student from Widener University School of Law. He matriculated at Temple University-Fox School of Business. He was a perennial Dean’s List recipient while at Temple. This past summer, he was a Certified Legal Intern with the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office where he made several supervised Court appearances before the Court of Common Pleas representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The summer before he was a Judicial Clerk Intern for the Honorable Michael Conahan of the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.
