Self-defense claimed in Dauphin County road-rage shooting trial

March 10, 2011

Harrisburg Defense attorney Justin McShane is representing Curtis Williams Jr. on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment stemming from a road-rage incident in Swatara Township in April 2009. Williams claimed he was acting in self-defense when he shot Harrison Purdy Jr. of Lower Paxton Township.

McShane claimed Williams, who had his two sons in his car, was afraid for their safety when Purdy approached their vehicle in an aggressive manner and refused to back away. After first firing two warning shots, Williams fired at Purdy and shot him in the leg, McShane said.
